Geriatric/Pathological Squirrel Glider Skull
Scientific Name: Petaurus norfolcensis
Order: Diprodontia
Family: Petauridae
Size: Approx. 45mm
This is the skull of an Australian Squirrel Glider. Very similar to the more common Sugar Gliders, but about twice the size. These guys are a marsupial that's very similar to flying squirrels.
This one looked to be very old and has some major bone issues around its nasal area. That whole side had it's turbinates missing and the teeth/molars are naturally missing as well which looks to have led to an infection.
This particular skull is from a captive zoo animal that passed naturally. It has been tagged and is legal to own Australia wide so long as the tag remains attached.
No international shipping on these guys unfortunately.
